Baltic-C Metadata

The metadata describing the data used in the Baltic-C project are listed below, grouped by Work Package (WP). A flow-diagram showing how the various work packages interact can be found here. Please report errors, omissions or updates to david.rayner@gvc.gu.se.

WP2 - Measuring the Baltic Sea CO2 system and carbon inventories.

Marine CO2 data:
Seasonally resolved pCO2 fields for the entire Baltic Sea
Compilation of existing CO2/carbon data
Trend analysis for the surface water pCO2

Research Cruises:
Research cruises ARANDA, MERIAN and ALKOR
VOS FINNMAID 2003-

WP3 - Inventory of river runoff data.

River flows, carbon and salinity discharges into the Baltic Sea

WP4 - Mineralization of organic material, deepwater−sediment interactions

Collected sediment cores analysed
New stratified sediment samples collected covering Arkona Deep, Bornholm Deep, Gotland Deep, coastal areas
Mineralisation rates established for a range of environmental conditions
Mineralization rates at the sediment water interface and in the deep water
Loads of carbon deposited to sediments and return flux of carbon from sediments for the entire Baltic Sea:

WP5 - Atmospheric forcing

Measurements taken at the Östergarnsholm field station

RCM climate scenarios:
Climate scenario inputs for the CSIM model
Climate scenario inputs for the LPJ-GUESS model
Cilmate scenario inputs for the PROBE-Baltic Model

Acid precipitation scenarios:
Historical Acid deposition inputs for the CSIM model
Historical Acid deposition inputs for the PROBE-Baltic Model

WP6 - Modelling the organic matter input from terrestrial vegetation and soils.

WP7 - Modelling the input of AT, CT, Ca, and Corg from rivers.

CSIM model results

WP8 - Modelling the Baltic Sea physical–biogeochemical system.
