- In Memoriam John Roads (1950 - 2008). With sadness and consternation we learned about the untimely death of John Roads, former GHP chair and CEOP co-chair. John was a true friend to BALTEX, he had been a regular participant at BALTEX conferences and, indeed, was the lead author of one of the first comprehensive papers on the water and energy budgets of the BALTEX region. We are mourning with his family, friends and colleagues. A trust fund will soon be established in John's name in favour of graduate students to attend climate science conferences.
